Police & Sheriff blotter, Aug 28-29

August 28

Freak-out: Police were called to the 600 block of Portage St. at 8:19 a.m. when a neighbor reported a disturbance there. It turned out to be a 23-year-old man who’d woken up late for work and was “frantically screaming to himself” while he readied to leave.

Take the hint: A 17-year-old boy was cited for operating while suspended near Rogers and Main streets at 9:01 a.m. He was also issued a warning for unsafe lane deviation.

Busted: Police were investigating a local business that was reportedly selling nicotine products to kids under the age of 18 on the 2700 block of Stanley St. at 10:35 a.m. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Crash: A 28-year-old man was cited for following too closely after a two-vehicle collision near Michigan Ave. and Sims Ave. at 1:10 p.m.

Waitin’ on a woman: Police conducted a welfare check at Fazolli’s, 5673 Hwy. 10 East, for a man lying on the ground at 4:05 p.m. The man, 37, said he was waiting for his wife to finish work at the restaurant.

Speeder: Police conducted a traffic stop on a speeding motorcyclist at North Point Dr. and Prentice St. North at 4:29 p.m. The driver, 39, was cited for operating without a valid license for the third time in three years, speeding 38 mph over the posted speed limit, and operating without insurance.

Kicked out: Police remained on standby while a 39-year-old man was asked to leave the Salvation Army, 1600 Briggs St., at 9:31 p.m.

Dunno if they caught him: Police attempted to make a traffic stop near Church and Division streets at 10:11 p.m. for a man who was speeding, but the vehicle did not stop. Additional details were not included in the blotter.

August 29

Busted at Crossroads: Two people were arrested following a traffic stop and K9 search at Walmart, 250 Crossroads Dr., at 12:04 a.m. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Not causing a problem: Police were called to Brick Hause, 1343 Second St., at 1:11 a.m. when someone reported a 35-year-old man was making threats. Upon investigation, police determined the man was not making threats.

Domestic: Police were called to Second and Clark streets at 2:11 a.m. for a physical disturbance involving two men, ages 30 and 31. The 30-year-old was arrested but additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Trepasser: A 29-year-old man was cited for trespassing after he returned to Kwik Trip, 1600 Maria Dr., at 3 a.m., after previously being banned from the property.

Who knows: Police were asked to conduct a welfare check near Water and West Clark streets at 4:46 a.m. but all details were redacted from the blotter.

Crash: Police responded to County Hwy. HH and Crossroads Dr. for a crash, but no details were included in the blotter.
