Plover police say a local high school student left home Sunday night and has not been seen since.
Jackson Kelly, also known as Jack Kelly, a popular senior at Stevens Point Area Senior High, was formally reported missing at 6 a.m. on Monday.
Kelly reportedly left his family’s Plover home at about 10:30 Sunday night. Plover Police Chief Dan Ault said it appears Kelly left the house of his own free will.
Ault said his detectives, along with Stevens Point police, were at SPASH on Feb. 18 to interview Kelly’s friends and classmates, and several officers, including himself, spent much of Monday tracking down “every lead we get”.
“He is 18, so he can come and go as he pleases, but there were a few suspicious things about his leaving,” Ault said Monday morning. “We’re still putting the pieces together.”
Kelly has been making headlines for much of his high school career. Nicknamed “Mr. Do Everything” as a standout athlete in multiple sports, Kelly committed last December to play Division I football at Illinois State. In 2018, he was named Defensive Player of the Year by the Valley Football Association, and named to the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-State Team.
Kelly is described as a white male, 18 years old, 6’1″ and 220 pounds. He has long, curly, dark blonde hair and blue eyes.
He was last seen driving a 2008 burgundy Honda Accord with Wisconsin license plate number 905-ZHD. The vehicle has several SPASH sports stickers affixed in the rear window.
Kelly is known to frequent sports venues and fitness facilities, Ault said.
“We don’t know that he’s in any danger, but this is very out-of-character for him,” he added.
Anyone with information about Kelly’s whereabouts should immediately contact the Plover Police Dept. at (715) 345-5255 or their nearest law enforcement agency.
