Police log: Gas drive-off, loose animals

Aug. 24

8:14 a.m., a 26-year-old female inmate at the Portage Co. Jail was cited for breaking jail rules by pulling another inmate’s hair.

9:33 a.m., deputies stopped to assist a 20-year-old female driver who slid-in during heavy rains near I-39 and Wilshire. A tow truck was called and no injuries were reported.

12:08 p.m., a loose pig was reported on the 1800 block of Jordan Rd. The humane society was contacted.

3:27 p.m., deputies responded to the 800 block of Woodview Dr. in Stevens Point after a caller reported a neighbor’s hens were on their property.

6:38 p.m., a caller notified deputies suspicious activity in their neighborhood after observing several men attempting to sell Kirby vacuums on the 400 block of Main St. in Amherst.

11:36 p.m., police were called to a store on the 700 block of Division St. after a caller reported an 18-year-old man being loud and abusive toward an 18-year-old woman. The man was cited for disorderly conduct.

12:32 a.m., an 18-year-old woman was cited for operating after suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia near Clark and Ellis streets.

12 p.m., an unknown driver filled the gas tank of their GMC Yukon with $91.63 worth of gasoline from a gas station on the 1600 block of Maria Dr. before driving off without paying. The truck reportedly had no license plates on it.

1:21 p.m., an assault/robbery was reported on the 2300 block of Eagle Summit.

Aug. 25

10:17 a.m., a 22-year-old woman reported someone had stolen her laundry on the 400 block of Michigan Ave.

2:49 p.m., a caller from the 7200 block of Pine Tree Dr. in Almond reported a persistent salesman at his home who refused to leave without retrieving paperwork he’d previously left behind.

5:46 p.m., deputies responded to a bar on the 1400 block of Second Dr. North after a caller reported an intoxicated woman causing a disturbance. The woman reportedly left in a vehicle before law enforcement arrived.

10:43 p.m., deputies arrested a 26-year-old man on charges of OWI and excessive speeding near County Trunk J and Mill St. in Almond.

Aug. 26

2:17 p.m., a 43-year-old woman came to the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office to report an “ongoing issue” over a dog. The woman had been told “multiple times” in the past, according to the police log, that it was a civil matter, not a police matter.

11:57 p.m., police were called to the 2000 block of Jefferson St. for a report of a domestic disturbance. A 28-year-old woman there was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and domestic abuse.
