Police investigating armed robbery on city’s north side

Stevens Point police are investigating an armed robbery that was reported over the weekend on the 1200 block of North Point Dr.

According to a news release from SPPD, police were called at 8:43 a.m. on Nov. 7 when a caller reported an armed robbery at an apartment across the street from SPASH.

The two victims were transported to the police department where they were interviewed.

Two suspects reportedly stole numerous electronic items and a vehicle belonging to one of the victims. At least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun during the incident, the release said.

A statewide Attempt to Locate was issued in regards to the stolen vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle was located in Washington Co., and after a pursuit, the chase came to a stop in Milwaukee.

One man is in custody at the Washington Co. Jail. The second suspect was not in the stolen vehicle when it was stopped.

Anticipated charges include armed robbery/intimidation of a victim, false imprisonment, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, burglary/kidnapping, theft, criminal trespass to dwelling, and endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon.

The incident remains under investigation and no further details were immediately available. This story will be updated.
