Stevens Point police have released the identity of the man arrested on multiple charges following a violent incident at an east side hotel.
Andrew M. Lehman, 24, is facing initial charges of disorderly conduct, domestic abuse, battery, and strangulation/suffocation. He was taken into custody after fleeing the scene on foot, when police found him behind La Quinta Inn & Suites, 4917 Main St. in Stevens Point.
Police were reportedly called to the hotel at 12:26 PM on Jan. 22 after someone reported an “ongoing physical disturbance” between a man, later identified as Lehman, and a 32-year-old woman inside one of the guest rooms.
According to a news release from SPPD, a knife was involved in the incident, and later recovered from the scene.
Police say Lehman, and a 32-year-old female victim, were treated onsite by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further information was immediately being released.
Lehman was previously sentenced to six months in jail for a charge of battery in 2017. His court date was not immediately scheduled.
