Police calls, March 11-13

Police blotters sent out by local law enforcement agencies are now far longer with less than half of the information necessary to produce an informative blotter. Find out why by clicking here. 

March 11

Runaway: Police were called to the 1400 block of Torun Rd. at 8:15 a.m. to check on a runaway girl.

Vaper: Police were called to Ben Franklin Jr. High, 2000 Polk St., at 8:58 a.m. when a vaping device was found on the floor of the cafeteria. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Who knows: Police were called to the alternative high school, 1900 West Ziner Dr., at 9:18 when a student was “participating in suspicious behavior.” Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Guess: Police were called to the 2000 block of River View Ave. at 9:52 a.m. for a property crime, but no additional details were included in the blotter.

Speeder: A 16-year-old boy was cited for traveling 61 mph in a 35-mph zone near Wilshire Blvd. and North Point Dr. at 10:26 a.m.

Threats: Police responded to Badger Heating and Air, 5348 Hwy. 10 East, at 10:42 a.m. when an employee reported being threatened, but all details were redacted from the blotter.

Uncivilized: A property owner on the 700 block of Sixth Ave. asked police to stand by while he checked an apartment there for a water leak, as the tenant has been hostile in the past. Additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Unauthorized sleeping: Police were called to Pool People, 3280 Church St., at 12:01 p.m., when an employee reported a known 43-year-old woman was sleeping inside one of the display sheds on the property. The woman was “highly intoxicated” and asked to move along. She was banned from the property.

Welfare check: Police were called to Madison Elementary, 600 Maria Dr., at 12:34 p.m., to check on a student who’d walked away from the school.

Car thief, kind of: A 54-year-old man called police to the 1900 block of Water St. at 12:53 p.m. to report that a 43-year-old woman had taken his car two days ago to get repaired and never returned it. The car was left on Hwy. 66 and the man had to have it towed.

Crash: Police were called to the 2900 block of Minnesota Ave. at 1:21 p.m. when a caller reported that a 74-year-old woman crashed into her garage. The motorist told police she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake. No injuries were reported.

Busted: Police were called to conduct a welfare check on a 22-year-old man on the 1900 block of Water St. at 1:41 p.m. The man was arrested on multiple charges but all additional details were redacted from the blotter.

Forgetful thief: Police arrested a 30-year-old man at Dunkin, 617 Division St., at 2:@8 p.m. after an employee found the man’s discarded backpack in the bathroom. The bag contained a stolen bottle of Fireball whiskey reported earlier at another location.

Threats: A 51-year-old man reported he was receiving threatening messages from an ex-boyfriend on the 1500 block of Wisconsin St.

Roundabout crash: A 72-year-old woman was cited for following too closely after crashing into a 28-year-old woman’s vehicle at the North Point Dr. roundabout at 3:54 p.m.

Missing: Police were called to the 1400 block of Torun Rd. at 5:03 p.m. for a report of a missing person but no additional details were included in the blotter.

Disturbance: Police were called to the 900 block of Michigan Ave. for a disturbance.

Stolen bike: Police were called to SPASH, 1201 North Point Dr., at 6:23 a.m. when a 54-year-old man reported that someone had stolen his bicycle.

Busted at the Bell: A 27-year-old man was arrested for drug possession after police responded when his vehicle hit several curbs in the parking lot of Taco Bell, 5400 Hwy. 10 East, at 10:46 p.m.

March 12

Speeder: A 47-year-old woman was cited for speeding 50 mph in a 35-mph zone at Industrial Park Rd. and Hoover Rd. at 8:25 a.m.

Speeder: A 41-year-old man was cited for speeding and operating without carrying a license near Fremont St. and Sims Ave. at 9:05 p.m.

Gun: A 20-year-old man called police to the Westside Mobil, 232 West Clark St., at 9:12 a.m. when a caller reported a road rage incident involving a gun. The man only wanted the incident reported.

It was lit: Police responded to the parking lot at Mid-State, 1001 Centerpoint Dr., at 10:05 for a vehicle on fire. It was quickly extinguished and the vehicle sustained minor damage. No one was injured.

Road rage: A 56-year-old man reported a road rage incident called police at 10:43 a.m. to report a road rage incident had occurred earlier in the day at North Point Dr. and Second St. Additional details were included in the blotter, but they were redacted.

Disorderly: Police were called to Franciscans, 1000 Main St., at 2:53 p.m. when someone reported an intoxicated woman, age 48, was causing a disturbance. She was arrested on several charges.

Nonstopper: A 22-year-old woman was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at Country Club Dr. and Gerald’s Dr. at 3:33 p.m.

Suspicious: Police stopped a 59-year-old man on the 1200 block of Illinois Ave. after someone reported a suspicious driver. The man was trying to pick up a lawnmower but couldn’t find the address.

Busted: Police arrested a 31-year-old man with an active warrant after he parked on a substation road near River View Ave. and Hwy. 66 West at 7:05 p.m.

Car jerk: An 18-year-old man was cited for illegal window tint and a loud muffler on the 900 block of Michigan Ave. at 7:44 p.m.

Threats: Police were called to Main St. and Wilshire Blvd. at 7:33 p.m. when someone reported being threatened.

March 13

Bad guests: Police responded to Days Inn, 159 Division St., at 1:01 a.m. when an employee reported a loud verbal argument in one of the rooms.

Not Christ Farley: Police were called to Bliss Ave. and Cypress St. at 1:17 a.m. when someone reported a 33-year-old man sleeping in a van “down by the river” at the dead end.

Jiggler: A 47-year-old man called police to the 1600 block of College Ave. at 3:04 a.m. to report someone was jiggling the door handle of his home. Officers offered to conduct extra patrol in the area, and the man was fine with that.
