Police calls, January 9-11

January 9

Bad neighbors: Police were called to the 600 block of John’s Dr. at 8:29 a.m. when a caller reported being threatened by a neighbor. It was part of an ongoing neighbor dispute.

Homeless: A known 47-year-old homeless woman was escorted out of Baymont Inn, 247 Division St. North, at 10:37 a.m., after she had been previously banned from the property.

Shoplifter: A 43-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting at Festival Foods, 1600 Academy Ave., at 12:34 p.m. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Loitering: Police were called to the 800 block of Division St. at 1:24 p.m. when a caller reported that a 41-year-old man had been loitering by the front door. The man was sent on his way.

Busted: Police arrested the 41-year-old man from the above call from Subway, 708 Division St., at 1:43 p.m., when he attempted to enter another person’s vehicle.

Who knows: One person was cited after a two-vehicle collision at Church St. and Centerpoint Dr. at 1:51 p.m. No word on what they were cited for or if anyone was injured.

Frequent flier: Police were asked to conduct a welfare check on a 41-year-old man who was arrested earlier in the day for attempting to break into a vehicle, as he was seen “stumbling on the street” along the 1300 block of Clark St. at 3:19 p.m. The man was deemed OK, but no additional details were included in the blotter.

Car v building: Police responded to the 3700 block of Patch St. at 4:52 p.m. when a caller reported a vehicle had caused minor damage after hitting a building there. No additional details were included in the blotter.

Assault: Police were called to the downtown library, 1001 Main St., at 6:18 p.m. when a 28-year-old man reported that he’d been assaulted by another man, age 59.

No idea: Police stopped a 22-year-old woman for running a red light at Main and Reserve streets at 6:44 p.m., but no word on whether the woman was warned or cited.

January 10

Wrong-way: Police issued a written warning to a 47-year-old man at Crosby Ave. and Water St. at 12:15 a.m. for driving against traffic.

Wrong-way: Police cited a 35-year-old man for operating with a suspended license and driving the wrong way on the downtown square at 12:52 a.m.

Booted: A 53-year-old woman was asked to leave the Salvation Army at 1:06 a.m., and given a ride by police to the downtown warming shelter.

OWI: Police responded to a slide-in near Patch St. and Minnesota Ave. at 1:32 a.m. when a 22-year-old man crashed his vehicle into an AT&T box. The man was arrested for first-offense OWI.

Bar fight: Police were called to Icon, 956 Main St., at 1:48 a.m. for a bar fight involving several people. One man, age 20, was arrested for substantial battery.

Noise: Police were called to the 3100 block of Whiting Ave. at 12:03 p.m. when a neighbor complained about noise. The resident was advised, but no word on what kind of noise we’re talking about here.

Violator: A known 43-year-old man under a judge’s orders to stay out of bars was arrested from Rookies Sports Pub, 3425 Church St., at 3:02 p.m.

Who knows: A disturbance was reported on the 1800 block of Fremont St. at 7:32 p.m., but all details were redacted from the blotter.

Break-in: Police were called to the 1600 block of College Ave. at 10:45 p.m. when a 21-year-old man reported someone had possibly broken into his residence. No additional details were included in the blotter.

OW-oh my: A 65-year-old man was arrested for his third OWI near Division St. and Lincoln Ave. at 11:03 p.m.

January 11

Back to John’s Drive: Police were called for an ongoing neighbor disturbance on the 600 block of John’s Dr. at 9:35 a.m. No additional information was included in the blotter.

Homeless: Police were called to the Cobblestone Hotel, 1117 Centerpoint Dr., at 10:36 a.m., when a known 47-year-old homeless woman was causing a disturbance. The woman was moved off the property.

Who knows: Police were called to the 400 block of Frederick St. North at 11:17 a.m. when a caller reported a disturbance, but no details were included.

How sweet: A 60-year-old woman called police at 4:20 p.m. to check on her friend, a 79-year-old woman on Bush St., whom she hadn’t been able to reach for a few days. Police confirmed the older woman was OK, and that her phone hadn’t been working.

OWI: A 25-year-old woman was arrested for OWI, second offense, after she slid in near River View Ave. and West River Dr. at 11:08 p.m.
