Police and Sheriff calls, October 21-23
October 21
School issues: Police were called to Ben Franklin Jr. High at 9:45 a.m. after a staff member reported a physical altercation in a bathroom. One student was cited for disorderly conduct.
Destruction: Police were called to the alternative high school on Clark St. at 10:03 a.m. when staff reported two students destroying school property and causing a disturbance. One student was taken into custody.
Outta gas: Police were called to Water and West Clark streets at 2:36 p.m. when a motorist ran out of gas and was blocking traffic. Officers helped push the car out of the roadway and helped the female motorist fill her tank.
Threats: A 44-year-old woman called police to the 2500 block of Fifth Ave. to report she was being harassed via text message.
Fraud: Police were called to the 700 block of Bukolt Ave. at 3:11 p.m. when someone reported a 45-year-old man was posing as a city inspector.
Theft: A 39-year-old woman called police to report a bicycle had been stolen from the 1200 block of West River Dr. at 4:06 p.m.
Creepy: A 56-year-old woman called police to the 4600 block of Heritage Dr. at 7:47 p.m. to report an unknown drunk man was calling her cell phone to claim that her daughter was a “cheater,” and he “knew where they lived.” The woman requested a patrol of her property.
Jerks: A 42-year-old man called police to the 1500 block of Brawley St. at 9:14 p.m. to report his college neighbors were unplugging his Halloween decor.
Homeless problems: Police responded to Mead Park at 11:15 p.m., where several homeless people were found in the park after hours. One person was arrested for violating bond, while several others were cited.
Vagrant: A homeless man, 35, was moved along from the Pfiffner bandshell at 11:22 p.m.
October 22
Car problems: Police cited an 18-year-old woman for operating without a license, making an illegal right turn, and driving without taillights at 1:16 a.m. near Fourth Ave. and Prentice St.
Arrest: A 52-year-old man with an open warrant was arrested during a traffic stop on the 200 block of Division St. at 2:44 a.m.
Not playin’ hooky: Police were called to the 3600 block of Lorraine St. at 8:14 a.m. when a mother reported that her daughter was refusing to go to school. The girl said she had such a bad headache that she couldn’t go. She agreed to be checked out at the hospital.
Domestic: Police were called to the 3800 block of Robert Pl. at 8:57 a.m. for a physical disturbance.
Property crime: A 47-year-old woman called police to the 2100 block of Madison St. at 9:07 a.m. to report that someone had damaged an exterior light on her home.
So busted: A 39-year-old man was arrested by deputies after he’d violated an injunction by visiting a residence on the 2800 block of 100th St. South in Wisconsin Rapids at 10:34 p.m.
Shoplifter: Police cited a 15-year-old boy for shoplifting at Kwik Trip, 3258 Church St., at 11:20 a.m.
Threats: A 32-year-old woman reported to deputies that she was receiving threatening text messages from her ex-boyfriend at 12:06 p.m.
Dog threats: Deputies were called to a Torun Rd. residence in the Town of Hull at 12:18 p.m., when one neighbor complained that another neighbor had threatened to kill their dogs. The incident was reportedly part of an ongoing dispute over the dogs barking at the offending person.
Fraud: A 74-year-old woman reported to deputies that someone made an unauthorized transfer of funds from her bank account at 1:58 p.m.
Threats: Deputies were called to Amherst Middle School at 2:31 p.m. when it was reported that one 12-year-old student had threatened another. The student was referred to the juvenile justice system.
Pay attention: Police cited a 20-year-old woman for inattentive driving following a two-vehicle crash at West Clark St. and West Zinda Dr. at 3 p.m.
More attention problems: Police cited an 18-year-old woman following a three-vehicle collision in the parking lot of SPASH, 1201 North Point Dr., at 3:12 p.m.
Harassment: Police were called to a nursing home facility on Sandpiper Dr. at 4:26 p.m. when a 65-year-old man reported that unknown persons were putting up signs on his door reading, “I am an asshole,” or “Dolt.” He wanted the issue documented.
Fraud: A 46-year-old man was arrested for attempting to obtain drugs using a fraudulent prescription at Walgreens, 10 Park Ridge Dr., at 5:25 p.m.
Homeless problems: Deputies responded to the downtown library at 5:55 p.m. when two homeless people were having a dispute while charging their phones. The two were asked to leave the property.
Wrong lane: Police issued a warning to a 27-year-old man for driving in the bicycle lane at West Clark and West Jackson streets at 7:49 p.m.
October 23
Homeless: Deputies found a 64-year-old man sleeping on a park bench at Lower Whiting Park while conducting patrol at 2:47 a.m. The man had previously been banned from the park, and was warned he would be cited if he returned again.
Homeless: A 40-year-old woman was found sleeping in the doorway of a business on the UWSP campus at 5:30 a.m.
