‘Pointer Promise Push’ recruitment program offers prizes, scholarships

Metro Wire Staff

UW-Stevens Point has kicked off a program designed to reward community members who refer prospective college students to enroll at the college.

The Pointer Promise Push program is “dedicated to growing the UW-Stevens Point family,” and aimed at students entering the university in the fall of 2022.

Refer students’ names and emails using a form at https://give.uwsp.edu/pointer-promise-push. Each form earns one entry into the prize drawings.

Referrals can be made by anyone, including alumni, current students, community members, parents, and friends. Prizes vary, including alumni socks, UWSP merchandise such as socks, mugs, T-shirts, 125th-anniversary “Yearsbook,” and an unnamed grand prize.

Prizes will be awarded and announced in July.

Pointer Promise $500 scholarships will be awarded to those referred students who apply during August, are accepted, and attend UW-Stevens Point in the fall of 2022 as first-year students. The scholarships are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are not guaranteed to all students. Potential students are encouraged to apply as early in August as possible while the scholarship funds are available.

Students who want to see if UW-Stevens Point is a good fit are encouraged to visit this summer. Individual family and small group visits are available weekdays, Saturdays and by appointment at www.uwsp.edu/visit.
