Point Dance Ensemble will hold auditions for the 2019-20 season on Saturday, May 11.

Serious local dance students, ages 11-18, are encouraged to audition. Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of two intermediate or advanced technique classes per week of ballet or modern at an area dance studio and have studied at least two years of ballet.

The first audition is 10-11 a.m. for dancers ages 11-12. The second audition time, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. is for dancers ages 13-18. Dancers should bring their dance shoes to the audition.

All applicants will be asked to fill out a brief form stating performance and training experience.

The 2019-20 season includes the annual performances of the Choreography Showcase 2010 at the Lettie Jensen Community Center in Amherst and a spring performance at the Sentry Theater next March.

The season marks the 20th anniversary for Point Dance Ensemble and will feature alumni of PDE, as well as guest artists from REDance, a Chicago-based dance company. The season also provides an opportunity for PDE company members to participate in the community production of Nutcracker Jazzed at Sentry Theater, and in community outreach programs throughout Portage County.

Point Dance Ensemble is a pre-professional company for dancers ages 11-18 that promotes the art of dance in Central Wisconsin. PDE provides company members experience in many aspects of dance including instruction, rehearsal, choreography, and performance. By providing educational programs, collaborative opportunities with musicians and guest choreographers, and performances of innovative choreography for varied community audiences, PDE inspires a lasting love and appreciation for dance through opportunity and artistic excellence.
