Point Brewery’s annual Blubber Run returns Sept. 17

By Patrick Lynn

It’s that time of year again.

Registration for the 2022 Blubber Run is now open. The 5K fun run/walk starts and stops at Point Brewery, 2617 Water St., on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The 5K is part of the Point Brewery’s 10th annual Pointoberfest.

The run/walk kicks off at 3 p.m. Costumes are encouraged and will be judged, with trophies awarded for “Best Costume” and “Best Group Costume,” as well as the fastest male and female runners. First place men’s and women’s will also receive an award.

Participants must be 21 or older and only 500 spots are available. Tickets are $30 in advance and $40 the day of the race, and include admission to Pointoberfest, held 4-8 p.m. in the parking lot across the street from the Point Brewery.

Pointoberfest-only tickets are $35 in advance, $30 the day of the event, and $8 for designated drivers.

Billed as “the most fun you’ll have in a beer tent this side of Bavaria,” the event is a fundraiser for Pints for Prostates, a Denver-based nonprofit organization focusing on prostate cancer awareness.

Over 20 Point Craft Beers and Ciderboys Hard Ciders will be available during the event. Food will also be available.

Live music kicks off at 4 p.m. with Wisconsin-based country rockers Stetsin & Lace.
