Plover Police Chief Dan Ault on Monday swore in the department’s newest police officer.

Wausau-native Kyle Jolin, 34, was sworn into his position as a patrol officer on Aug. 19, during a special ceremony at noon. Many department members, along with several village officials, and their families, were present.

Jolin comes from the Abbotsford Police Department and previously worked as a police officer in Rothschild. He studied criminal justice at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau.

He said he chose to apply for a vacancy in the PPD because his wife is a SPASH alumnus and has family in Plover.

“I look forward to being in this department for the rest of my career,” Jolin said after being sworn in.

Village Administrator Dan Mahoney welcomed Jolin to the family, saying, “I think every member of the department knows this is a family. Family is important to us, and the style of community policing in the village is outstanding.”

Jolin lives with his wife and children in Plover.
