The Plover VFW awarded a $1,000 scholarship to an ROTC cadet on April 30.

The Post 10262 Rifle Squad presented the scholarship to UW-Stevens Point ROTC Cadet Anna M. Dobbe in a small ceremony at the Post. The award is typically presented at the annual Army Pointer Company ROTC Military Ball, but the 2021 event was canceled due to COVID-19.

Dobbe, currently a senior in the ROTC program, received the Plover VFW Rifle Squad award for an Outstanding Cadet from Plover VFW Adjutant and Assistant Rifle Squad Commander Norb Strasser.

She hails from LaCrosse and will graduate in May of 2021 with a major in business administration and minors in economics and military science.

Dobbe will commission on active duty for four months in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps at Fort Lee, Virginia, which provides supply and logistical support for military units. Her first assignment will be with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Dobbe has been a member of the UWSP Women’s Tennis Team throughout her four years on campus. During her free time, she enjoys hunting with her father and sister and is an avid CrossFit athlete.
