Plover to close tennis/pickleball courts for resurfacing

PLOVER — The tennis courts at Little Plover River Park will be closed next week for resurfacing and restriping, according to village officials.

The courts will be unavailable from Monday, Sept. 16, through Friday, Sept. 20, depending on the weather. The park has two courts designed for tennis or pickleball.

Scott Klemm, Plover’s public works manager, said the $28,000 project will be funded through the village’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation. “We’re just resurfacing the courts; this was a planned project,” Klemm said.

Ryan Wilson of Arrow Precision Asphalt Maintenance was already starting work on the project on Friday, using a special machine to wash the court surface.

“It’s just covered in gunk,” Wilson said as he made the first pass with his machine. “See the difference?”

Wilson said he expects to complete the initial cleaning process on Friday. Once clean, he said he would apply a sealant followed by two coats of color before the courts reopen to the public.

“This is pretty much our last parks project for the season,” Klemm said.
