Plover thanks residents, asks to continue following ‘Safer at Home’

To the Editor-

On behalf of the Plover Village Board of Trustees, thank you all for following Governor Ever’s “Safer at Home” Emergency Orders as best you can.

We know it’s hard because we are such a social people, but isolating ourselves will help slow the spread of COVID-19 and will help our medical community better deal with any serious COVID-19 cases that arise in Portage County. You are doing great work—please keep it up.

And please keep posting your creative ways of staying safe and entertaining yourselves—those postings are fun to see and are good for the soul.

On a more serious note, I wanted to remind everyone that Governor Ever’s Safer at Home Emergency Order included a requirement to close all playgrounds. Village of Plover parks will remain open for passive use (walking, biking, etc.), however, signs will be placed adjacent to all playground equipment stating that the playground areas are closed until further notice.

We are also urging all Village of Plover residents to vote absentee ballot by mail. The deadline for regular and overseas electors to request absentee ballots by mail for the spring election is currently 5 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2020. The deadline for indefinitely confined electors and military electors, not on active duty or away from their residence, to request ballots by mail for the spring election is currently 5 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2020.

If you choose to wait and vote on Election Day, please be aware that there may be long lines and long waits OUTSIDE, no matter what the weather is, because the number of people allowed inside is limited by Governor Ever’s “Safer at Home” Emergency Orders.

Please consider keeping yourself, our poll workers, and our staff safe by voting absentee ballot at home.
