Plover PD swears in newest officer

By Brandi Makuski

The Plover Police Dept. welcomed a new officer on June 11.

Officer Aimee Kontos was sworn into service by Chief Dan Ault before a crowd of law enforcement officers and personnel from Stevens Point, Portage Co., and Plover, as well as several village officials.

Kontos has been a sworn police officer since 2002 when she was hired by the Stevens Point Police Dept. Her departure from SPPD left a vacancy the city will be filling on Wednesday.

“It wasn’t that I left Point, it was that I came to Plover,” Kontos said. “Their reputation precedes them and I’m looking forward to working with Chief Ault and the officers.”

Kontos is the second officer to leave the city for Plover. Ofc. Blake Hansen joined PPD in January 2017, after six years with the Stevens Point Police Dept.

“They’re a very progressive department, where my abilities will do the most work,” Kontos added.

Kontos replaces Ofc. Jacob Paltz, who left Plover for a job at the Wisconsin Rapids Police Dept. earlier this year. She is the department’s 20th sworn officer.

Kontos lives in Whiting with her husband and children.
