Plover ice rinks set to open next week, weather permitting

PLOVER — The Village of Plover’s outdoor ice rinks at Easlan-Weslan Park are scheduled to open early next week, pending favorable weather conditions, Village Administrator Steve Kunst announced.

The rinks were initially expected to open earlier this week but were delayed due to warm weather.

“We’re holding off a few extra days to ensure the ice is in the best condition for skaters,” Kunst said.

Public works manager Scott Klemm said the park features two outdoor rinks: one for freestyle skating and another designed for hockey with walls and goals. Both rinks are equipped with lights for nighttime use until 11 p.m.

Normal park hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and the rinks will follow that schedule as long as the weather and ice conditions are favorable, Klemm said. Restrooms and a warming area in the park shelter will also be open during those hours.

Klemm emphasized that the facilities are free to use but asked visitors to respect the space and other users.

“If there are ongoing issues with vandalism, graffiti, or safety concerns, we may need to close the area,” Klemm said.

An update on the official opening date is expected early next week, Klemm added.
