Plover CVB reports another record-breaking tourism quarter

PLOVER – The Plover Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (PACVB) announced a record-breaking increase in revenue from overnight stays during the third quarter, highlighting the impact of strategic marketing efforts and a strong local tourism economy.
The PACVB reported nearly $118,000 in room tax revenue last quarter, surpassing its previous record of $107,000. The bureau noted an increase of more than $15,000 in revenue generated by overnight stays at Village of Plover hotels compared to the same period last year.
“We saw consistent sellouts both on the weekends and through the week in our hotels last quarter,” said Malorie Paine, executive director of the PACVB, in a news release. “We attribute this to the investment made in strategically marketing the Plover Area as a great destination for all visitors.”
The PACVB’s growth follows a record-breaking year for Portage County and the state in 2023. The organization has reported quarterly revenue increases from Plover hotels throughout 2024.
“Tourism drives economic vitality,” Paine said. “When visitors stay overnight, our local businesses and residents reap the benefits.”
Revenue from an 8% room tax has enabled the PACVB to assist local tourism-related businesses with marketing, contribute to area development, and establish programs such as the Go for It Grant Program. The success is credited to a targeted marketing campaign that garnered over one million impressions during its flight.
“As awareness of Plover has increased, the number of visitors coming to the area has also increased,” Paine said. “Our strategies have proven to be successful, and we look forward to continuing those efforts.”
Paine also praised events like Celebrate Plover, the Standing Rocks Enduro, and tournaments organized by Plover-Whiting Youth Athletics for driving tourism. “Our partner organizations are hosting incredible events each year that people want to attend,” she said. “We extend our gratitude for the work all our partners do to drive tourism in the Plover area.”
The PACVB serves as the official destination marketing organization for the Village and Town of Plover, promoting economic growth, quality of life, and community preservation through tourism development.
