Plover Black Sox shut out Stevens Point Sixers in Legion play

A large crowd came out to Bukolt Park on Tuesday night to watch the Stevens Point Sixers and Plover Black Sox Legion baseball teams go head to head.
The Black Sox shut out the Sixers 6-0 with pitchers Logan Schulfer and Dylan Davis tossing a combined shutout. Schulfer pitched six innings with no runs on three hits and six strikeouts. Davis closed the game pitching the final inning with no hits, no walks, and two strikeouts.
Black Sox first baseman Jack Kelly started off the scoring trend for Plover in the first inning with a single to right field bringing Derek Baumgartner across the plate. Plover added runs in the third inning with Kelly, Schulfer, and Austin Beyer picking up RBIs. Dylan Trigg and Cam Stampfl drew walks in the seventh inning with bases loaded to bring in two additional RBIs.
Plover tallied eight hits in the game with Jack Kelly leading Plover going 3-3 at the plate and driving in two RBIs.
Brady Franz, Isaac Perner, and Jacob Danielson all tallied one hit for the Sixers.
JD Schultz suffered the loss on the mound for the Sixers.
Plover’s next game is on Wednesday at Memorial Park against Marshfield at 7:00 p.m.
The Sixers will take on Wisconsin Rapids Wednesday at Bukolt Park at 7:00 p.m.
