The Playhouse Theatre Group has announced its first Exceptional Arts production, putting a spotlight on kids with special adaptive needs in both cast and crew roles.
Students in grades 4-12 are welcome to participate in the “Willy Wonka Kids,” slated to open on Dec. 3 in the Ben Franklin Jr. High Auditorium.
Children of all abilities are welcome to participate but role preference will be given to students who meet one of the 13 disability categories defined in the federal Individual With Disabilities Education Act.
PTG has three groups organizing the show. The production team—director, musical director, stage manager, and tech crew; the performers; and the Theatre Education Arts Mentor (TEAM). The latter group is comprised of individuals with at least three past PTG productions who are partnered with newcomers to the organization.
No experience is necessary. Anyone interested needs to sign up by email at [email protected] by Oct. 24. Rehearsals begin Nov. 1.
