A Hwy. 10 E. Burger King is one step closer to reality.

City plan commissioners on March 5 gave unanimous approval to the site plan review for the new restaurant, which will be constructed at 5431 Highway 10 East.

The property was annexed into Stevens Point from the Town of Hull late last year. It is currently vacant and located to the immediate east of a recently-constructed strip mall on the 5400 block.

The proposal, brought by Illinois-based Cave Enterprises, outlines a 3,200-square-foot standalone structure with a drive-thru, with 44 parking stalls and bicycle parking for six.

It would be the first presence the national fast-food chain has had inside the city since a north Division St. Burger King location was destroyed in a fire about 20 years ago. Another Burger King is located in Plover at 1750 County Hwy B.
