Construction crews keep the waters at bay using a cofferdam while upgrading the dam at the Springville Pond on Bus. 51 in Plover.
Work on the dam, and corresponding improvements on the causeway, are expected to be complete in November, according to Community Development Manager Steve Kunst.
Replacing the dam is necessary before crews can begin the last of four phases on the Bus. 51 widening project in Whiting and Plover. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation project, which rebuilds the arterial road before handing over ownership to the two villages, began in 2016.
The last phase addresses Bus. 51/Post Rd. between Springville Dr. and Tommy’s Turnpike. Improvements include new sidewalks, traffic signals, streetlights, and signage. Underground utilities for storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water will also be replaced.
Construction on the road surface is expected to begin following the causeway improvements, ending in November 2022.
