Pedestrian killed in crash involving farm equipment in Buena Vista

BUENA VISTA — A 24-year-old man was killed Wednesday evening after he was struck by agricultural machinery while working along Sherman Road in the Town of Buena Vista, according to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. on June 11, about 0.62 miles east of County Highway J. Portage County deputies, Plover Ambulance, Plover Fire Department, Almond EMS and Almond Fire Department all responded to the scene.

Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a news release from Sheriff Mike Lukas, the man was working on a roadway project when he was hit by an eastbound piece of agricultural machinery. His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

The crash remains under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office and the Portage County Medical Examiner’s Office.
