PCSO to host snowmobile safety class in December

STEVENS POINT — The Portage County Sheriff’s Office will host a snowmobile safety class beginning Dec. 9.
The Department of Natural Resources-certified program will be taught by sheriff’s deputies and experienced volunteers, providing participants with the knowledge to safely and legally operate snowmobiles.
The classes will be held at the Portage County Sheriff’s Office Training Room, 1500 Strongs Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 9, 10 and 12. Registration is available online at gowild.wi.gov.
The course costs $10 and is intended for snowmobile operators aged 12 and older. Fees will be collected at the first session.
Wisconsin law requires anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1985, to hold a valid snowmobile safety certificate to operate a snowmobile. Space for the class is limited.
