PCSO, DNR, encounter bobcat in caller’s car

Portage Co. dispatchers on Tuesday took a strange call.

“Can you imagine getting this call? ‘I have a bobcat in my car,'” said Sheriff Mike Lukas, chuckling.

Lukas said Deputies Selvey, Stanton, and Ashbeck responded to the location to investigate, and to their surprise, found a bobcat in the caller’s vehicle.

“My deputies are really good at solving problems but this one baffled them, so we called in reinforcements with Conservation Warden Bryan Lockman,” Lukas said. “As you can see on the bodycam footage, Warden Lockman was a pro at getting the critter out and in his truck and returned it to the wild.”

Lukas said it was “all in a day’s work at the Portage County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin DNR.”
