Patricia Dorothy Mjelde, 84

Patricia Dorothy Mjelde, age 84, of Plover, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on May 1, 2023, at Whispering Pines – The Lodge in Plover.

Pat was born on May 15, 1938, in Stevens Point, daughter of Ambrose C. and Theresa (née Dombrowski) Patoka. On August 30, 1958, she married the love of her life, Louis Mjelde at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Fancher, Wis.

Pat and Lou moved to Milwaukee after their marriage where she raised her three children and was a baby-sitter for some of her working friends. When the kids were in high school Pat started working at McDonalds as a book keeper and cashier. Pat and Lou also co-owned the Home Port Bar in West Allis, Wis.

After Lou’s retirement they moved back to Plover. She will forever be remembered for her infectious laugh, love of a good bargain, watching QVC and playing word search on her tablet. She also enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, entertaining with their famed cookouts.

She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband Louis.

She is survived by her sons Randy (Kristy) Mjelde of Kimberling, MO, Daniel (Laurie) Mjelde of Stevens Point, and daughter, Michele (Doug) Droese of Colgate, Wis., seven grandchildren, Stacy Kratz, Janice Byal, Michael (Jayme) Mjelde, Zachary Richardt, Lesley Mjelde, Dylan (Olivia) Mjelde, Stefanie (Ryan) Weyenberg, and seven great-grandchildren, Kadyn, Joslyn, Emma, Maggie, Kane, Klay and Kamden.

Our family sincerely thanks the staff of Whispering Pines – The Lodge, Promedica Hospice Care, and Aspirus Hospital-Wausau palliative care team for their outstanding loving and compassionate care for mom.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 9-10:30 a.m. at St. Bronislava Parish, 3200 Plover Rd, Plover.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation with, The Very Reverend Edward Shuttleworth presiding. Burial will take place at Plover Cemetery in Plover.
