The Stevens Point Parks Department has opened online registration for this year’s Learn to Skate program.

Classes will be held at K.B. Willett Arena and are open to all ages and abilities. Classes begin Sept. 26 and skaters can choose from Tuesday evening or Saturday morning sessions.

An introductory class, “Snow Plow Sam,” is a confidence-building program designed for children ages six and under. Basic-level classes build on the courage and agility that comes with more time on the ice, and advanced classes are designed to allow skaters to take their skills to the next level.

The classes are based on a curriculum from Learn to Skate USA and is endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating, USA Hockey, and U.S. Speed Skating organizations.

Registration is available online at https://stevenspoint.com/Learn-to-Skate.

Reduced class sizes and new safety procedures, along with increased cleaning routines, will be in place, according to a news release from the park’s department. Participants and parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these procedures before classes begin. That information can also be found on the city’s website.
