Park Ridge makes disaster declaration; joins Plover in closing roads

By Patrick Lynn

Several roads have been closed to traffic in Plover and Park Ridge.

In Park Ridge, Board President Randy Busch said the village has declared a disaster due to flooding. High water on roadways has forced the village to exhaust its resources, Busch said in an email.

“In the interest of public safety, and to protect village infrastructure, all village streets south of Park Ridge Dr. are closed to through traffic,” Busch’s email read. “Residents are allowed to and from their homes.

Park Ridge firefighters were deployed on Wednesday to place sandbags and barrels in affected areas, according to Chief Brian Lepper.

Crews from the Plover Fire Department were out for several hours on Thursday placing sandbags along several roadways to keep back rising waters.

Elm St. from Willard Dr. to Hoover Ave. is closed, along with the intersection of Hickory and Nottingham drives. Hickory Dr. from Post Rd. to Seventh St., and Crabtree Ave. from Tamarack St. to Ponderosa St. is also closed.
