MOSINEE — Behind strong pitching from senior Peyton Mancl and a key home run from senior Kaylin Yenter, the Pacelli Cardinals secured a 2-1 nonconference victory over Mosinee on Friday.

Mancl pitched a complete game for Pacelli, allowing five hits and one earned run while striking out seven. She did not issue a walk over her seven innings of work.

The Cardinals opened the scoring in the second inning, and Yenter added to the lead with a solo home run in the sixth. Yenter finished 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

Maddy Pionek and Ava Tess each contributed a hit for Pacelli, while Amelia Martini and Mancl also added singles to help pace the Cardinals’ offense. Courtesy runner Ella Tess scored one of the Cardinals’ two runs.

Mosinee broke through with a run in the bottom of the sixth, highlighted by RBI production from M. Woller. Despite a two-hit performance from Woller, Mosinee could not capitalize further against Mancl.

Amelia Busse pitched a full game for Mosinee, striking out one while giving up six hits, two runs (one earned), and two walks.

Pacelli left four runners on base while Mosinee stranded five.

Pacelli returns to action next week in conference play.
