O’so finalizes site plans for move to Stevens Point

By Brandi Makuski

A new brewery site for O’so Brewing Company in Plover is prepping for its relocation into Stevens Point.

Plan commissioners on Monday will consider approving the site plan review, and granting a conditional use permit to operate a brewery, at the company’s new, but unaddressed, parcel near the northeast intersection of Venture Dr. and County Hwy. HH.

The 35,000-square foot facility would be the newest addition to the East Park Commerce Center, one of the largest business parks in the state.

City leaders approved the developer’s agreement last August. The deal calls for selling the 20-acre site to Big Thinker LLC, owned by the owners of O’so, for $1, extend city utilities to the site, and provide a $500,000 grant for improvements to the space.

In exchange, the $2 million project would need to be completed within two years, and Big Thinker would be required to pay a minimum tax increment, with annual increases, between 2020 and 2033.

Plans for the new O’so includes a brewery and taproom, a VIP space and cellar for aging barrels. A hops field, fruit orchard, beer garden, kickball diamond and disc golf course are also in the long-term plans.

O’so currently operates a taphouse and brewery in Plover’s Village Park. The company initially planned its expansion project in the former Tree Acres site just off County Rd. R, but those plans never came to fruition.

The plan commission meets at 6 p.m. on April 2 inside Room 122 of the Stevens Point Police Departments, 933 Michigan Avenue.
