One man has died following a single-vehicle collision on Hwy. 10 in the Town of Amherst on Saturday.
The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office reports that a 37-year-old man from Puerto Rico was the lone occupant of the vehicle. His body was ejected from the car following the collision.
The man was driving westbound on Hwy. 10 in Amherst shortly after 6 a.m. on Feb. 13, just east of County Hwy. A/B, when he “failed to negotiate a slight curve near the exit ramp,” a news release from the sheriff’s office said.
The man’s vehicle entered the north ditch and overturned, eventually coming to rest on its wheels. The man wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.
The Portage Co. Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced the man dead on the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
The crash is still under investigation.
