The Point/Plover Metro Wire is the fastest-growing news company in Central Wisconsin, serving approximately 80,000 regional readers. We are dedicated to delivering accurate, engaging, and timely news to our community.

We are seeking part-time news reporters with a possibility of full-time opportunities for the right candidates. If you are passionate about storytelling, have a strong connection to the Portage County community, and are ready to be part of a dynamic team, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, teamwork, and accuracy in reporting.
  • Create engaging and compelling news stories, videos, and podcasts.
  • Actively engage with the community and represent the Metro Wire at events.
  • Participate in newsroom collaboration to shape impactful coverage.
  • Exercise sound news judgment, ethical decision-making, and deadline-driven work habits.

Qualifications:

  • Must have own transportation and insurance.
  • Excellent writing skills with a commitment to ethical journalism.
  • Familiarity with digital/new media platforms and strategies.
  • Degree in Journalism or Communications is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Adobe programs is preferred.
  • Driven to develop original content and enterprise stories.
  • Professional appearance and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills, a proactive work ethic, and an ability to make decisions independently.
