No injuries in Plover factory fire

By Brandi Makuski

A Plover dairy processing plant suffered minor smoke damage after a fire broke out in an air processor on Saturday.

Metro Fire crews were called to Foremost Farms, 2541 Foremost Rd. in Plover, shortly after noon on April 7 after a fire alarm was reported from inside a whey storage room. Stevens Point and Plover firefighters, and Plover police, responded to the scene; Hull crews were placed on standby.

Plover Fire Chief Mark Deaver said firefighters had the blaze extinguished “within five minutes” of arriving on the scene.

“We had to ventilate the building extensively,” Deaver said. “We had quite a bit of smoke in there.”

The scene was cleared at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Deaver said. One person was treated for smoke inhalation but there were no injuries.
