Newcomer Vang runaway fave in school board primary

Candidate Ann Vang emerged from Tuesday’s school board primary with 888 votes, far exceeding a pool of racemates that includes two incumbents.

Barb Portzen and Jeff Ebel, both returning board members, earned 688 and 659 votes, respectively. Rounding out the top six vote-earners were Jodi Rentfrow with 631 votes, and Gee Pope with 481.

All six will advance to the April 2 election, vying for three available seats on the Stevens Point Area Public School Board of Education.

Candidates Kurt Pulvermacher garnered 345 votes and Ed Morganroth, Jr., brought in 283 votes.
