SPASH announced on Monday that it has hired Maggie Reilly as its new head coach for the girls’ swim team.

Reilly previously led the girls’ junior high program at SPASH. She competed in swimming in high school and at the collegiate level while attempting UW-Ear Claire, where she was a conference champion in the 200 Butterfly.

Reilly said she was “honored and excited” to lead the high school program.

“My goal is to provide opportunities for student-athletes to grow as an individual in and out of the pool,” she said in a press release from the district.

Reilly graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a degree in kinesiology with a concentration in physical education and adapted physical education. She’s currently a teacher at P.J. Jacobs Junior High and will continue teaching physical education in the district.

David Hauser, SPASH’s athletic director, said that Reilly brings a passion for the sport, and a “desire to build the Stevens Point swim program into a dominant one.”
