New doggie daycare opens in Plover

PLOVER — A new dog daycare has officially opened its doors in the village of Plover.
Boone’s K9 Clubhouse celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, hosted by the Portage County Business Council Ambassadors and attended by local officials and community members.
Owner Ryan Haga shared his excitement about the venture, which has been in the works since November.
“I started this business just about a month ago and opened a week before Christmas,” Haga said. “I saw a need for dog daycare and boarding in this area after traveling the country for work and noticing limited options.”
The 5,000-square-foot facility, located at 2140 Maple Dr., Plover, currently offers daycare services for dogs, with plans to expand to boarding within the next week. Grooming services are also on the horizon, with Haga projecting a launch date in mid-February.
The business, named after Haga’s five-year-old blue-nose pit bull, Boone, has already garnered positive feedback. “We’ve had about one or two dogs each day so far,” Haga said. “It’s been a quick turnaround, but I’m excited to get started.”
The ribbon-cutting event was attended by several dignitaries, including Michael Witte, executive director of the Portage County Business Council, PCBC Ambassadors, Village Administrator Steve Kunst, and Adam DeKleyn, Plover’s community development manager. Officials from Stevens Point were also in attendance.
Witte emphasized the growing demand for pet services in the community. “One of the questions I hear a lot during community tours is, ‘Where can I find a good dog daycare?’” Witte said. “Dogs are truly part of the family now, and care during the day is crucial. Boone’s K9 Clubhouse is meeting an important need in this area.”
DeKleyn praised the swift development of the business. “It’s exciting to see an idea turn into reality so quickly,” he said. “Congratulations, Ryan, and welcome to the community.”
The PCBC presented Haga with a certificate of appreciation, recognizing its contribution to the area’s growth and prosperity.
For now, the daycare service is priced at $30 per day, with boarding also set at $40 per night. Discounts are available for multiple dogs from the same household. Customers can find more information and book services through Boone’s K9 Clubhouse’s Facebook page or Google business listing.
Haga expressed gratitude for the support he has received from his family and business partner, Maya Worzella, who will manage day-to-day operations. “This has been a family effort,” Haga said. “I couldn’t have done it without them.”
