National Weather Service warns of more snow

Metro Wire Staff

Portage Co. could see at least three more inches of snow by Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service in Green Bay on Tuesday issued a winter weather advisory for the Stevens Point and Plover areas, this time with light snow beginning at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

“Most locations will see snowfall totals in the three-to-five-inch range by late Wednesday morning; however, locally higher totals approaching six inches are possible, especially in any banding that occurs,” the advisory reads in part.

Portage Co. saw more than seven inches of snow and sleet during Sunday’s blizzard, according to ploverweather.com, and the NWS said the new precipitation will cover existing ice on sidewalks and roadways.

Travelers should use caution and watch local news outlets for the latest closures and warnings.
