Multiple crews called out for wildland fire in Lanark

LANARK — Fire crews are battling a half-arce wildland fire in the town of Lanark.
A passing motorist called 911 at 5:54 a.m. to report seeing flames from the roadway on the 5800 block of Hilltop Dr. The first responding unit from the Amherst Fire District reported flames 5-7 feet in height nearing a treeline.
Personnel, brush trucks, and tenders (water trucks) from Amherst, Stockton, Iola, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources have been called to the scene. Stockton FD has also been asked to bring its UTV to the scene.
The scene is near the intersection of Valley View Rd.
Crews reported a fire about half an acre in size spreading into the trees. The fire has also spread to a power pole in the area, prompting dispatchers to call Alliant Energy.
