STEVENS POINT — A 44-year-old man was airlifted to a local hospital Thursday evening after a motorcycle crash on the city’s south side.

Emergency crews were called just after 5:30 p.m. to the intersection of Fremont and Jefferson streets for a report of a single-motorcycle crash. Stevens Point police officers and firefighters found the rider, who was the motorcycle’s only occupant, with serious injuries.

The man was flown by medical helicopter to a local hospital for treatment.

Police said alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released.
