Monteverdi Chorale to open rehearsals for all vocalists

By Patrick Lynn

The Monteverdi Chorale will kick off its new season with a special rehearsal open to all singers.

The open rehearsal is a chance for vocalists of all skill sets to join in on the fun without any obligation to join the choir—but anyone wishing to audition for the group this year is required to participate in the public rehearsal.

Public rehearsals will be held 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 8 and 15 in Room 250 of the UWSP Noel Fine Arts Center.

“There is no need to pre-register; just show up and have a good time with the singers of the Monteverdi Chorale,” a news release from the group reads in part.

Auditions will be held by appointment the week of Sept. 15. Interested vocalists should email [email protected] to schedule an audition.

Monteverdi’s 2019-20 season will feature “Lessons and Carols” on December 12, 14, and 15; “Midwinter Cabaret”, a cabaret-style dinner concert, on February 16; and “Ode to Unity” with the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra and the Wausau Lyric Choir on April 18 and 19.

The Monteverdi Chorale is a professional-level auditioned ensemble of 60 singers from Portage, Marathon, Wood, and Waupaca counties. Most members have extensive choral experience and many have vocal training.

The mission of the Monteverdi Chorale is to present excellent choral music reflecting various periods and styles performed by auditioned regional musicians for diverse, mostly regional audiences.
