STEVENS POINT — High school and middle school students from across Wisconsin will gather at Mid-State Technical College’s Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, and Apprenticeship (AMETA) Center on Friday, Jan. 17, for the Regional SkillsUSA Competition.
The event will feature 14 career and technical education contests, including Job Interview, Prepared Speech, Welding Sculpture, and Precision Machining. Participants will utilize the AMETA Center’s state-of-the-art classrooms and labs for their competitions.
“This is the third year Mid-State has hosted the regional competition and the first time it’s being held at the AMETA Center,” said Ryan Kawski, dean of the School of Applied Technology. “We are excited for local middle and high school students to witness the AMETA Center’s cutting-edge technology, and we look forward to continuing the tradition of offering career and technical education opportunities in our community.”
The AMETA Center, located in the Stevens Point Industrial Park, is a premier facility designed to train the next generation of Wisconsin’s workforce. It houses 10 academic programs and five apprenticeships and is strategically located near central Wisconsin’s leading manufacturing companies.
