Mid-State offers webinars on starting, restarting, college from home

Adults considering a change can now learn about at-home college options in a new webinar series from Mid-State.

The college’s free “Stay at Home and Stay on Track” webinars are designed for any adult looking to learn a new skill or explore options for a path to advancement in their current career or a new one. Participants will learn how their time at home can be used to upskill through flexible courses that fit their lifestyle and interests and have a chance to ask questions.

According to Dr. Mandy Lang, vice president of Student Services & Enrollment Management, the new webinars add to the list of ways Mid-State is innovating to help students adjust to the impact of the COVID-19.

“This webinar series will provide potential students and business partners information as they may be considering new opportunities,” Lang said. “During this unprecedented time, situations may have changed. Mid-State is here to help students reach their career goals without traveling far from home.”

The college will be waiving application fees through the webinar series. The webinars will be offered on the following dates:

Tuesday, May 5, 5–6 p.m.
New Skills, New You: Adult Basic Education Resources and Career Awareness

Learn about Mid-State’s resources designed to help returning adult students get back in the groove and ready to learn.

Thursday, May 7, 5–6 p.m.
Your Experience and Service Matter: Veterans and Credit for Prior Service

Veteran and Mid-State graduate Dr. Alex Lendved shares her military experience and explains how credit for prior learning can benefit you in getting a head start in returning to school.

Tuesday, May 12, 5–6 p.m.
Something for Everyone: Continuing Education for Professional Development or Enrichment

Get information about Mid-State’s continuing education classes, whether you want to brush up on a professional development skill that will take your career to the next level or just find something fun for yourself or the whole family.

Thursday, May 14, 12:30–1:30 p.m.
Develop Talent at Home through Contract Training: Contract Training and Sponsor a Scholar (for Businesses)

Keep employees engaged and develop their skills through customized training as they work remotely. Also, learn how the Sponsor a Scholar program can help you build your employee pipeline.
