CENTRAL WISCONSIN – Mid-State Technical College has launched a new associate degree program for those pursuing careers in addiction counseling, with applications now being accepted.
The college’s new Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC) program is a 67-credit associate of applied science degree designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in clinics, hospitals, residential facilities, and social service agencies.
Students will receive training in counseling, addiction diagnosis, treatment planning, group facilitation, and crisis management. Graduates will be equipped to support individuals struggling with addiction by helping them identify personal triggers and develop healthy coping strategies.
“The Substance Use Disorder Counselor program will open avenues for students and have a positive impact upon people’s lives,” said Rick Anderson, dean of Mid-State’s School of Public Safety. “We look forward to producing graduates from this program to meet the demand for substance use counseling services in our communities.”
