Maurita “Mikki” Louise (Maslowski) Stroik, 88

Maurita “Mikki” Louise (Maslowski) Stroik, age 88, of Ripon, Wis., passed unexpectedly on July 13, 2022 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Maurita was born on August 13, 1933 in Stevens Point to Louis and Helen Maslowski.

Maurita devoted her life to her family and her faith. While raising seven children by herself was no easy task, she did so with kindness and compassion. She would tell stories of her family and childhood memories as her children grew. When her children had children, she once again spent her time nurturing her grandchildren and eventually, great grandchildren. All knew the three hug rule before saying good-bye.

Along with her family, sharing her Faith was important. As a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Ripon, she enjoyed every opportunity to attend Sunday Mass.

She greatly enjoyed her career as a health care provider over the years; often caring for her patients as they were her family. After retiring, Maurita enjoyed many activities in addition to her family and her profound belief in Jesus. She enjoyed gardening, crochet, sewing, and cooking. She used these talents to make baby quilts and afghans for those she loved.

Those who knew and loved her, knew her as a kind, gentle soul who placed others first before herself; displaying her caring, loving, and friendly nature in everything she did, even recalling and singing old songs.

She is survived by her children Melanie (Ken) Tschudy, Faye (Larry) Cronce, Julie Zakrzewski, Brenda (Gary) Post, Bruce (Karol) Stroik and her brother, Thomas Maslowski Sr. She is further survived by 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Laurie Wierzba and Camille Stroik, and sister-in-law, Carol Maslowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Maurita on Friday, July 22, 2022, at St. Stephens Church, 1401 Clark St., Stevens Point, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Hennes officiating. Burial will be held at Saint Martin in Ellis, immediately following Mass. Friends and family may gather to share memories at 9 a.m. until the time of services on Friday at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Prairie Place Assisted Living for making mom feel right at home and immediately welcomed. Another special thank you to St. Agnes Hospital and her ICU nurse, Catherine, for the exceptional care given to her during her final moments.
