Matt Paulus appointed area manager for Boldt’s Wisconsin River Valley Office

For the Metro Wire

After 40 years in central Wisconsin, The Boldt Company is reviving its leadership in the region.

Matt Paulus has been appointed the area manager for Boldt’s Wisconsin River Valley office and is leading the construction services company into new markets and renewed work in traditional markets.

The firm’s office is located in Stevens Point, but team members serve customers throughout central and
northern Wisconsin. For Paulus, success in construction is built through one-on-one relationships.

“A lot of people are familiar with Boldt thanks to our past projects,” Paulus said. “My goal is to build on those past relationships and continue to consistently grow our footprint in central Wisconsin.”

Paulus started his career with Boldt as an intern fresh out of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville where he earned degrees in civil engineering and construction management. In his 10-year career with the company, he has been responsible for project management, estimating, cost reporting, financial management and scheduling in industries as diverse as healthcare, industrial and even mining. That broad background has been valuable on his career path.

“My experience has given me first-hand knowledge about understanding how buildings are constructed, which helps customers understand how to realize savings in the construction process,” Paulus said.

The Wisconsin River Valley office was originally established to serve the extensive business Boldt had in the paper and pulp industry. Today, that business is experiencing a resurgence as traditional paper makers are changing their market focus, often requiring new construction and new machinery.

In addition to providing construction services for the paper industry, Boldt performs the unique service of building new machines and rebuilding machines for paper manufacturers, finishers and converters.

Paulus’ role is a direct outgrowth of Boldt’s career pathing program that continually identifies opportunities for team members. “I’ve learned great leadership skills thanks to mentorship and experience, and my goal is to continue to develop our team members and give them opportunities for advancement,” Paulus said.

The Stevens Point region will also continue to benefit from the firm’s commitment to community involvement. Boldt is a member of and actively involved the Portage County Business Council and Plover Area Business Association as well as other regional non-profits. The firm also offers meeting space free of charge to non-profits in the area.

The Boldt Company, headquartered in Wisconsin, has 14 offices throughout the United States and is one of the leading sustainable construction firms in the country. The firm provides professional construction services to customers in a variety of industrial, education, healthcare, commercial and energy markets nationwide.
