Mary M. Stoll, 78

Mary M. Stoll, of Wautoma, lovingly known as “Gigi” to many, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Aug. 19, 2026, at Willow Brooke Assisted Living, at the age of 78.

Mary was born Oct. 17, 1947, in Milwaukee, daughter of the late George and Margaret (Stiller) Ziefle. She was raised in a home with strong Catholic values and attended a Catholic academy as a young girl. She lived a life deep in faith and was a believer in her church.

Mary went on to further her education and earned a degree in teaching. She dedicated her life to the profession and was a third-grade teacher for U.S. Grant Elementary in Milwaukee for many years. After retirement, she continued to teach as a substitute teacher. She did this for a variety of school districts within Waushara County, but mostly at the School District of Wild Rose. Her love of teaching ran deep; so deep, even as her health declined and her mind began to slip away, she always believed she was working with her students.

When Mary wasn’t teaching, she was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would often take the long way around and “swing by” on her way from Milwaukee to Wautoma, to pick them up for a trip “up north” with her. She spent as much time with them as she could, so much that there is not a memory they have that doesn’t include their beloved Grandma Mary.

While Mary’s life focus was her family, which included her school family, she also loved to travel, play bingo and complete crossword puzzles. Mary also loved to speak Spanish. She was dedicated, passionate and truly a selfless woman who loved her family. She left a mark on countless hearts, always putting others first and never saying “no” to someone in need. She will forever be missed and her family truly believes that upon being reunited with her husband and sons, she went right back to work teaching the angels up in heaven.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Amanda (Matt); her grandchildren, Haley (Austin), Mackenzie, Maia, Madalyn, Isabella, Jared and Jordan; and her great-grandchildren, Mattix and Annaliese. She is further survived by her sister, Julie (Gordy).

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Butch”; her sons, Mike and Jim; and her parents, George and Margaret.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dimensions Living, Willow Brooke and Heartland Hospice for the exceptional love and care provided to Mary when she could not be safely cared for at home and when we could not be with her.

A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 622 Beach St., Plainfield, WI 54966.
