Mary Ann Budnik, 83

Mary Ann Budnik, 83, of Whiting, died Feb. 28, 2025, at River View Lodge Assisted Living.

She was born Sept. 16, 1941, to Chester and Irene (née Gavinski) Easker. She graduated from D.C. Everest High School and later married Sam Budnik. Together, they had three children before separating in 2000.

Mary Ann held various jobs, but her most important role was being a mother. She took great pride in her family and always made time for them. Her special cookies and coffee were always ready for visitors who stopped by for conversation. She was kind, generous, and loved with her whole heart. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, gardening, dancing, and visiting the casino.

She is survived by her children, Brian (Cheryl) Budnik of North Manchester, Indiana; Jodi (Gary) Rucinski of Mosinee; and Mike (Lucia) Budnik of Janesville; her grandchildren, Samantha (Andrew) Evans, Dustin (Connie) Rucinski, Matt (Hannah) Budnik, Travis (Samantha) Rucinski, Lindsey (Rylan) Porter, Jenna Budnik and Brendan Ortiz; and her great-grandchildren, Madeline and Theodore Evans, and Skylar and Liam Rucinski. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Elaine King, Elizabeth McKenna, and Ellen Haebig; and the love of her life, Sam Budnik.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at River View Lodge for their care over the past year and to North Shore Hospice for their compassionate treatment in her final days.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m., with a service to follow at 11 a.m., at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point.
