Mary A. Loftis, 85

Mary A. Loftis age 85, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully at Point Manor under the care of Ministry Hospice.

A Celebration of Life visitation for Mary will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22 from 2-4 p.m. at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point. Burial will be in Durand, Ill.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed in Mary’s name to the Portage County Humane Society.

Mary was born November 18, 1933, in Orangeville, Ill., the daughter of John and Lillian (Walter) Blunt. She graduated from Durand, Ill. High School in 1952.

Mary married Roland Loftis on June 27, 1954, in Freeport, Ill., and the couple settled in Durand for a short time before moving to Rockford in 1956. They moved to Stevens Point in 1986, when Roland accepted a position at the Stevens Point Woodward Governor Plant. Mary loved talking to friends and relatives on the phone, crafting, sewing, and baking.

She is survived by her daughter Michelle (Brad) Johnson, Stevens Point; four grandchildren: Brandon (Lindsey) Johnson, Eau Claire; Brooke Johnson (Fiancé’ Bryan), Eau Claire, Michael (Chelsey) Loftis, Montana; Derek (Leslie), Loftis, West Virginia; and two great-grandchildren, Levi and Ruby Loftis.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roland in 1996, their son Michael, two brothers: Ralph and Franklin, and her twin sister Shirley Jacobs.
