Martha “Marti” A. Shuda, 84, of Stevens Point, passed away on Sept. 20, 2024.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 800 4th Ave., Stevens Point. Rev. John Potaczek will officiate.

Marti was born July 28, 1940, in Gary, Ind., to Frank and Selma (Berget) Rebeck. The family relocated to Shantytown, Wis., where she attended Rosholt High School, graduating with the class of 1958.

After high school, Marti attended cosmetology school in Green Bay and began her career as a beautician in Milwaukee. She married James “Jim” Shuda on Feb. 17, 1962. The couple moved to Stevens Point, where Jim opened Shuda Funeral Chapel. They worked side by side for years—Jim as a funeral director and Marti providing cosmetology services. Together, they raised seven children.

Marti’s greatest joys were her family, gardening, and traveling. She especially enjoyed Caribbean cruises and her retirement years in Arizona.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jim Shuda; sons, Dean (Lori) Shuda of Stevens Point and Scott (Sandra) Shuda of Flower Mound, Texas; daughters, Sandra (Dan) Trelka of Waterloo, Iowa, Dawn (Dan) Larson of Chesterfield, Mo., Kari (Jesse) Peplinski of Brookfield, Wis., and Tracy (Jessie) Bugaring of Westminster, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Tina Shuda of Stevens Point; 30 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Chris Wierzba of Stevens Point.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Michael, infant sister Margaret, and son Kip Shuda of Stevens Point.
