Marie J. Edberg, 94

Marie J. Edberg, 94 years young of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully at Whispering Pines Assisted Living Community in Plover on December 26, 2021.

Born on February 27, 1927, in Duquesne, Penn. She and her husband Don F. Edberg lived in Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, and Minnesota before settling in Wisconsin in the late-1950s.

She lived a full life and was an active member of Rebekah and Eastern Star holding local and state offices in both organizations. Among her many interests was her fondness for crossword puzzles, crafts, Hummels, lighthouses, and travel. Marie was predeceased by her husband of 53 years in 2003 and is survived by their five children: Sherry (Doug) Lynch of Stevens Point; Don Edberg II (Karen Buss) of Custer; Judy Edberg of West Dover, VT; Michelle (Chris) Mielke of Holly Springs, NC; and Barry (Margie) Edberg of Rolla, MO.

Marie was grandmother to five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her sister, Eleanor Stavar continues to live in Duquesne, Penn.

The family wishes to send heartfelt thanks to the staff of Whispering Pines and Heartland Hospice for their loving care of our mother in her final days. The family sends a special thank you to Heartland Hospice volunteer, Julie and to Laurie at Whispering Pines for their exceptional care to Marie and support to the family.

Per Marie’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Marie will be laid to rest beside her husband, Don at the McDill Cemetery in a private graveside service at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the McDill Cemetery Association or the Portage County Humane Society.
